# Gameplay Mechanics

## Champion Selection

In Helix, each match begins with a critical choice: selecting your champion. At the start of a game, you'll use the `/start` command, which presents you with a roster of iconic champions.

### How It Works:

* You choose a champion (like Einstein or Newton) based on your preferred playstyle.
* Each champion comes with unique attributes and a distinctive set of abilities.

### Why It Matters:

Your champion defines your base health and the style of play—whether you're more offensive or defensive—setting the stage for the strategic battle ahead.

## Powers & Turn Flow

Every champion in Helix is equipped with four core powers:

* **Attack:** Delivers a direct blow to your opponent, reducing their health.
* **Heal:** Restores your own health, giving you a chance to recover during the fight.
* **Equalize:** Balances the health between you and your opponent, potentially turning the tide of battle.
* **Siphon:** Drains health from your opponent to bolster your own.

### Turn Based Action:

* The game operates in a turn-based format where each player alternates moves.
* You have a maximum of 20 turns each, making every decision count.
* The bot’s interface clearly indicates whose turn it is, ensuring smooth, real-time play.

## Health & Rounds

### Health Management:

* Each champion starts with a preset amount of health.
* Actions like attacks, heals, and siphons directly affect these numbers, and you can monitor the changes via real-time updates.

### Round Structure:

* A round is complete when both players have taken their turn.
* The game continues until one champion’s health reaches zero or both players have exhausted their 20-turn limit.

### Winning the Game:

* The match ends when one player’s health falls to zero (or below) or when all turns are played.
* The bot announces the outcome and displays final health stats, ensuring a clear conclusion to each battle.
